Financial Assistance

Financial assistance to cover travel and daily subsistence is available to the following:

1) Two representatives from each Least Developed Country or Small Island Developing States; and
2) One representative from all other GEF recipient countries

To obtain financial assistance, governments must notify the GEF Secretariat of their official delegation to the Assembly and identify the member(s) of the delegation to be provided with financial assistance. Requests for financial assistance cannot be processed until this official notification has been received by the GEF Secretariat.

Representatives eligible to receive financial assistance should complete the Request for Travel and Financial Assistance form (pdf 90kb), and send it to Ms. Amanda Days at the Secretariat (e-mail: assembly@thegef.org, Fax: +1 202 522-3240/3245) no later than Friday, July 28. Upon receipt of the request form, the GEF Secretariat will authorize American Express Travel to arrange flight reservations and process advances of the subsistence allowance.

Request forms received after July 28 will be processed after the Assembly. No requests for financial assistance will be processed in Cape Town.
