The project is working to help Ethiopian communities adapt to climate change by providing them with the tools needed for anticipatory and autonomous adaptation, including climate risk information, financing, insurance, technical support. Capacity of planning authorities is further developed to include climate risks into planning processes. This will enable the provision of appropriate levels of support to communities.
The project concentrates on building sub-national and local capacity for autonomous adaptation by supporting local communities and administrations at the lower levels of government to plan, design and implement adaptation actions aimed at reducing climate change vulnerability and building resilience, especially in the most vulnerable communities. This project furthermore promotes climate resilience through the application of agricultural, land and water management techniques and practices in both rural and urban environments. The risk associated with these technologies is minimized by using knowledge, information and financing strategies.
