November 10

The 41st meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council completed its deliberations on Thursday. In the morning, the World Bank introduced a report on the Rules regarding GEF Constituencies, with members deciding to keep it under review.

The Trustee, then, provided an update on the independent review of systems in the GEF-5 replenishment process, proposing an “implementation proposal” that addresses the recommendations in the review.

Among other decisions, the GEF Council also decided to hold the 42nd Council on 5-7 June 2012, in view of the change of dates of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20). After receiving the Joint Summary of the Chairs, Council Members reviewed and approved the decisions and commented, inter alia, on the Work Program and the Establishment of Trust Funds.
