This project is aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in the urban transport sector by enhancing a modal shift from motorized transport to non-motorized transport. This shift will occur through the construction of a safe and convenient network of pedestrian and cycling pathways and related infrastructure for bicycles, a promotion and communication/public awareness campaign and a review of the policy and legal framework.

The project development objective is to support Colombia’s efforts to define adaptation measures and policy options to meet the expected impacts from climate change. This will be achieved through: a) improvements to the knowledge base (documenting trends and impacts); b) assessing the expected consequences of GCC on strategic ecosystems; and c) identifying and assessing measures and policy options to adapt to the effects of climate change as well as development projects within which adaptation can be mainstreamed.

At PDF-A: The overall objective of this project is to: develop the framework for the sustainable management and use of the Nubian Aquifer System in parts of Chad, Egypt, Libya and Sudan.The project will have four immediate objectives:1.Expand, and consolidate the technical and scientific knowledge base regarding the Nubian Aquifer system including the development of an appropriate groundwater model . 2.Develop and strengthen a joint Nubian Aquifer Management Framework that can guide the sustainable use of this important water resource and build transboundary cooperation.

Within the overall objective of the Stockholm Convention, which is to protect human health and the environment from POPs, the project will: i. Prepare the ground for implementation of the Convention in Cameroon; ii. Assist Cameroon in meeting its reporting and other obligations under the Convention; and iii. Strengthen Cameroon’s national capacity to manage POPs and chemicals generally.

Within the overall objective of the Stockholm Convention, which is to protect human health and the environment from POPs, the project will: i. Prepare the ground for implementation of the Convention inSerbia and Montenegro; ii. Assist Serbia and Montenegro in meeting reporting and other obligations under the Convention; and iii. StrengthenSerbia and Montenegro’s capacity to manage POPs and chemicals generally.

The purpose of the proposed NAPA formulation project for Bangladesh is the development of a countrywide program that encompasses the immediate and urgent adaptation activities that address the current and anticipated adverse effects of climate change, including extreme events. The goal of the NAPA formulation for Bangladesh is the provision of a framework to guide the coordination and implementation of adaptation initiatives in the country, through a participatory approach and building synergies with other relevant environmental and related programs.

The objective of this project is to develop a NAPA document consistent with Decision 28/CP.7: National adaptation programmes of action will serve as simplified and direct channels of communication for information relating to the urgent and immediate adaptation needs of the LDCs.

Within the overall objective of the Stockholm Convention, which is to protect human health and the environment from POPs, the project will: i. Prepare the groundwork for implementation of the Convention in Marshall Islands; ii. Assist Marshall Islands in meeting its reporting and other obligations under the Convention; iii. Strengthen Marshall Islands’ national capacity to manage POPs and chemicals generally.
