To enhance the enabling environment to effectively implement the provisions of the Nagoya Protocol with a harmonized institutional and intersectoral approach as well as demonstrate replicable models for equitable and sustainable access and benefit sharing (ABS).

The project objective is to “support access to clean energy by increasing the financial viability, and promoting scaled-up commercial investment, in low-carbon mini-grids in Zambia with a focus on cost-reduction levers and innovative business models”.

To consolidate and operationalize the national ABS legal and institutional framework, including through the development of pilot ABS products and value chains, to enable appropriate access to genetic resources in Morocco and fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from their utilization, for sustainable rural development and the sustainable use of globally significant biodiversity and ecosystems.

The Regional Project’s objective is to support countries to scale up commercial investment in renewable energy minigrids, acting as the knowledge, and advocacy and coordinating platform for the Africa Minigrids Program (AMP). This will be achieved supporting countries to scale up commercial investment in renewable energy minigrids, through a suite of knowledge tools, technical and operational expertise, communities of practice, and promoting innovative digital approaches for minigrid cost-reduction.

Contribute to the reduction of anthropogenic mercury releases/emissions from artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) to the environment, by strengthening formalization processes and enabling environments that foster: inclusion, access to finance and legal supply chains, adoption of clean practices and technologies, and building skills and technical capacities for the ASGM sector.

To prevent the build-up of materials and chemicals in the environment that contain POPs and Mercury and other harmful chemicals in SIDS, and to manage and dispose of existing harmful chemicals and materials in SIDS

To strengthen Barbados´ institutional and technological capacities to transit towards a resilient, affordable and low-carbon energy infrastructure.
