The Partnership’s global environment objective is to restore and maintain globally significant ecosystem functions and services through enhanced local capacity, restoration of degraded areas, and dissemination, replication and scaling-up of successful SLEM best practices within and across individual Indian states. Its overall development objective is to contribute to poverty alleviation in India by promoting enhanced efficiency of natural resource use, improved land and ecosystem productivity, and reduced vulnerability to extreme weather events (droughts, floods). The WB-UNDP-FAO partnership is strongly supported by Government of India and is proposed as a vehicle for catalyzing investments and accelerating actions in India.
