This is in accordance with the GEF Guidelines for Additional Funding of Biodiversity Enabling Activities (Expedited Procedures) issued in February 2000 and CoP Decisions II/7, IV/1 D, V/9 (priority), VI/5, VI/8, VI/23, VI/24 of the Conference of the Parties.
Partnerships for Conservation Management of the Aketajawe-Lolobata National Park, North Maluku Province
The proposed project's central development objective is to develop and test a collaborative framework to manage protected areas in Indonesia and protect key biodiversity areas and ecosystem services in North Maluku. The new approach would be tested in ALNP in Halmahera Island, North Maluku, and if deemed successful, its pilot interventions would be adopted elsewhere in the country.
Conservation of Globally Important Biodiversity in High Nature Value Semi-natural Grasslands through Support for the Traditional Local Economy
The goal of this project is to ensure long-term conservation of the globally important biodiversity of the Ponor Mountains. The objective is to conserve the Ponor Mountains grasslands as a pastoral ecosystem of high biodiversity value by addressing the root-causes of its abandonment and subsequent degradation, and identifying and disseminating lessons learned to similar grassland areas in Bulgaria.
