The project development goal is to achieve ecosystem stability on the exposed Aral seabed and the Kyzylkum Desert, in Uzbekistan. It will achieve this by supporting fully and directly the objective of GEF OP#15 namely, to mitigate the causes and negative impacts of land degradation on the structure and functional integrity of ecosystems through sustainable land management practices as a contribution to improving people’s livelihoods and economic well-being.
CACILM: Demonstrating Sustainable Mountain Pasture Management in Susamyr in Kyrgyzstan-under CACILM Patnership Framework Phase I
The objective of the project is o develop in the Susamyr Valley a cost-effective and replicable pasture management mechanism which reduces the negative effects of livestock grazing on land and which improves rural livelihoods.
El Kala National Park and Wetlands Complex Management
The project will develop and implement a management plan for the National Park and wetland complex in the El Tarf Wilaya, including undertaking base-line studies, protected area management, natural resource use development, monitoring and adaptive research, environmental education, institutional strengthening and establishing a conservation fund for NGOs and other local environmental groups.

Productive Uses of Renewable Energy in Chitral District, Pakistan (PURE-Chitral)
This project aims at removing barriers to the adoption of renewable energy technologies (RETs) by promoting productive uses of energy in one of Pakistan remotest areas: the District of Chitral. The project will create new local jobs and sources of income while directly mitigating some 109,000 tons, and indirectly mitigating 390,000 tons, of CO2-equivalent over 25 years.
WB-GEF POL Ningbo Water and Environment Project - under WB/GEF Partnership Investment Fund for Pollution Reduction in the LME of East Asia
The proposed project would fall under the World Bank/GEF East Asia Land-Based Pollution Reduction Investment Fund Project (the Partnership Fund), presently under preparation.
