CPP Namibia: Sustainable Land Management Support and Adaptive Management Project (NAM SLM SAM)
The overall goal of the CPP is to combat land degradation using integrated cross sectoral approaches which enable Namibia to reach its MDG #7: "environmental sustainability" and assure the integrity of dryland ecosystems and ecosystem services. Demonstration of Community-based Mgt of Seagrass Habitats in Trikora Beach East Bintan, Riau Archipelago Province, Indonesia
The proposed project is one of the demonstration projects developed under the framework of the UNEP/GEF project entiled: " Reversing Environmental Degradation in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand". More specifically this projects aims to establish an integrated management system for a total of 1,500 ha of the coastal and marine environment including seagrass and associated habitats, through ensuring a cross-sectoral and participatory approach to addressing the threats, and the root-causes of current and future habitat degradation.
CACILM: Partnership Framework - Land Improvement Project
This project is part of the CACILM program partnership. Program details can be found under PMIS 2504. The objective of the Land Improvement Project (LIP), supported by ADB, the Uzbekistan Government and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), is to arrest and reverse land degradation and improve the livelihood of farmer households through the adoption of sustainable land management practices on a significant scale and in a manner that makes it possible for project benefits to accrue beyond the immediate project area.
Butrint National Park: Biodiversity and Global Heritage Conservation
The proposed GEF project aims to connect biodiversity conservation and sustainable ecosystem management with conservation of world heritage in the Butrint aquatic and wetland complex and to mobilize donor’s support for long term financing of the Park complex. The resulting MSP would seek to conserve a World Heritage site composed of a number of ecosystems but coastal wetlands are the main ecological system.
Participatory Planning and Implementation in the Management of Shantou Intertidal Wetland
The objective of this project is to demonstrate a set of stress reduction measures effective at the Shantou intertidal wetland ecosystem including: -Establishment of institutional arrangements for cross-sectoral and participatory management (cross-sectoral management body and integrated management plan); -Rehabilitation and physical enclosure of some hotspots; -Promotion of environmentally friendly economic activities (silvo-fishery and eco-tourism); and -Development and implementation of awareness raising and capacity building programmes.
