Enabling Activities to Facilitate Early Action on the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)
The objective of this Enabling Activities proposal is to strengthen national capacity and to enhance knowledge and understanding amongst decision makers, managers, industry, and the public at large on POPs to develop a National Implementation Plan. By achieving this objective Hungary will meet the obligations of the Stockholm Convention and be enabled to manage the elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).

To obtain national consensus on the specific mechanisms needed for on-going capacity building to manage the use of biodiversity and ensure its conservation in accord with the NBSAP. 2. Establish a CHM and operationalize the same. 3. In accordance with the Decision V/19 of the Conference of the Parties, prepare a second national report for submission to the Secretariat CBD by the deadline May15, 2001.

Project Summary. This Biodiversity Enabling Activity for South Africa assists DEAT in developing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP). The BSAP will build on and reinforce other existing national policies, particularly the White Paper on the Conservation and Sustainable use of South Africa’s Biological Diversity (1997) setting out the National Biodiversity Policy.
