The Constituency Meeting for Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan took place from May 18-20, 2023 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
This was the first in-person Constituency Meeting since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought together 30 GEF Focal Point representatives from the constituency member states, implementing agencies, and other development partners active in the region.
The Constituency Meetings provided an opportunity to share information, views, and obtain feedback from members of the constituency on issues related to the agenda of the 64th GEF Council meeting (June 26-29, 2023). Constituency representatives presented and discussed their GEF-8 programing priorities. The implementing agencies and development agencies active in the region presented their relevant projects and developments and encouraged discussions on coordination, communication, and outreach issues.
The two-day Constituency meeting concluded with a field visit to the implementation areas of the UNDP/GEF project "Conservation and sustainable use of Pamir Alay and Tien Shan ecosystems for snow leopard protection and sustainable community livelihoods."
