To strengthen COMIFAC’s capacity for regional coordination in line with the objectives of the Convergence Plan and with specific focus on the GEF Congo Basin Strategic Program

Project Objective: To improve the effectiveness and sustainability of biodiversity and protected areas management in 2 selected protected areas

To promote sustainable and climate-friendly rural development in the States of Lara and Falcon, increasing the potential of carbon stocks in the region and reducing emissions, while encouraging sustainable production alternatives that are better adapted to climate change and can help reduce poverty

Strengthen the information base and institutional capacity of the key organizations, members of the Project Steering Committee, to integrate climate change priorities into development strategies and relevant sector programs of the Argentine Republic by providing financial and technical support to prepare its Third National Communication (TNC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The biodiversity of Southern Tanzania is better represented and buffered from threat within National Parks.

To address and reduce the additional stresses and associated costs posed by climate change to the Pakistani agricultural production system.

Strengthen the capacity of public and private institutions and of farmers for integrating climate change adaptations in projects directed to small farmers in five target regions.

The overall objective of the proposed project is to strengthen and /or build capacity required in LDCs of the COMESA Sub-region to implement their NIPs in a sustainable, effective and comprehensive manner while building upon and contributing to strengthening the country’s capacities for sound management of POPs chemicals.

The Objective of the project is to strengthen and build the capacity required in LDCs and SIDS in the ECOWAS sub region to implement their Stockholm Convention NIPs in a sustainable, effective and comprehensive manner, while building upon and contributing to strengthening a country's foundational capacities for the sound management of chemicals.

Project Objective: This PIF proposes specific in-country investments, technical assistance, knowledge generation and capacity building activities within the framework of the proposed Mediterranean Environmental Sustainable Development Program (SUSTAINABLE MED). SUSTAINABLE MED represents a continuation and further expansion of the Investment Fund of the GEF/IWs Mediterranean Sea Large Marine Ecosystem Strategic Partnership (Mediterranean Strategic Partnership). Key objectives of the Investment Fund regarding water pollution reduction and biodiversity conservation will be maintained.
