GCF and GEF harmonise steps to follow developing country lead in climate finance
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) agreed yesterday to take joint steps to improve climate finance flows to best meet the needs of developing countries in tackling the global climate challenge.
The heads of the two organisations, GCF Executive Director Howard Bamsey and the GEF’s CEO and Chairperson Naoko Ishii, met together with several developing country ministers to consider how the two funds can best promote complementarity and coherence in their ongoing climate finance support.
GEF Academy and the GEF’s first E-course launched at 6th GEF Assembly
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) launched the GEF Academy and its first online course, titled “Introduction to the GEF,” at the Sixth GEF Assembly in Da Nang, Viet Nam on 25 June 2018.
The GEF Academy is a GEF learning initiative that provides an online and face-to-face curriculum of courses and learning events designed to enhance the capacity of GEF partners and stakeholders to engage with the GEF and to deliver global environmental benefits through GEF-funded initiatives.
