The new policy, presented at the 53rd council meeting taking place in Washington DC, is the result of a two-year collaborative and consultative process involving civil society, indigenous peoples, recipient country governments, GEF agencies and other stakeholders.

For the next three days the GEF Council will discuss a wide range of issues including new policies on gender, access to information and stakeholder engagement, as well as the final work program of GEF-6.
