The objective of this project is to develop a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP) for the conservation and sustainable use of Tajikistan’s biodiversity and its First National Report. The BSAP will identify themes and issues of national importance, goals and objectives within these themes as well as the mechanisms necessary to attain these objectives. The completed BSAP will be submitted to the Government for endorsement. In accordance to Article 26 of CBD, the First National Report on Biodiversity in Tajikistan will be submitted to the CoP.

The project will start by holding a national workshop to review the earlier work and discuss the detail for the phase II activities. Given the weak institutional and human capacity in Niue to adequately consider all the aspects of climate change, it is deemed necessary by the Government to convene a national workshop on climate change from the region and from other small island developing states.

Phase II of the Project will enable Burundi to strengthen national capacity for identification of appropriate technologies to address climate change, and designing and developing national programmes dealing with climate change. The present project is designed to strengthen the results from the first phase with special emphasis on human and institutional capacity building.
