September 8 Summary of Project The Rift Valley/Red Sea flyway is the second most important flyway for migratory soaring birds (raptors, storks, pelicans and some ibis) in the world, with over 1.5 million birds of 39 species, including 6 globally threatened species, using this corridor between their breeding grounds in Europe and West Asia and wintering areas in Africa each year.

The objective of the proposed PDF A exercise is to assist the GoM in defining and if possible, formulating and finalizing an OP-6 Full Project Brief to submit for GEF financing in the promotion of renewable energy. Depending on the conclusions drawn and recommendations made after the completion of the pre-project development activities, a project brief either for a PDF-B Proposal or Full Project Brief, whichever is deemed relevant.

The PDF-A activities will determine the project approach based on an assessment of sustainable timber values in the intervening area and the preference of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee. Regardless of the option chosen, the project will include sustainable management of forest resources by improving the sequestration of carbon and enhancing soil and water conservation as a means of green-house gas reduction and land degradation improvements.

The project will implement the management plan for marine areas of Con Dao National Park by developing programs of planning, zoning, boundary demarcation, park infrastructure and human resource development; monitor biodiversity and marine resources, and to rehabilitate the ecosystem degraded by natural catastrophes and human impacts; encourage community participation in biodiversity conservation through education, awareness and joint development of livelihood support programmes; develop communications strategy, education and awareness programmes for use with fishing and other coastal commu

Many living marine resources in the Caribbean Region are in crisis. Most of the fishery resources are coastal and are intensively exploited by large numbers of small-scale fishers. The majority of the human population in the Caribbean region lives in coastal communities and there is high dependence on living marine resources for employment and food. There is also high demand for seafood in the tourism industry, a mainstay of the economy in many of the region’s countries. Some species, such as lobster and conch are in high demand for export.

The project aims to conserve the steppe, sub-Mediterranean, and Balkanic ecosystems and associated endangered and endemic species within the Macin Hercinian Mountains, through strengthening the capacity of the EPA – Tulcea and other local agencies to collaboratively develop and implement integrated conservation management plan.

The objective of the project is to catalyze the adoption of comprehensive ecosystem management interventions that integrate ecological, economic, and social goals to achieve the conservation and sustainable use of globally significant biodiversity and land and water resources of the Cotahuasi River Basin.

To strengthen the Karakalpakstan system of protected areas through the enhanced enabling environment and establishment of a multi-zoned National Park which demonstrates the collaborative conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in Amu Darya Delta and provides lessons and best practices replicable throughout the national protected areas system.

First version (PDF-B):The proposed project is a new co-generation plant to be located on or adjacent to UAE’s sugar mill operations in São Paulo, the most populous and industrialized state in Brazil. UAE is a high profile company in the Brazilian sugar mill industry and in the nearby major metropolitan area of Campinas. The mill produces both sugar and ethanol.

The global environment objective is to contribute to improving the economic attractiveness of solar thermal technology globally. The project will create global learning effects that will lead to a reduction in costs for the technology over the long term.
