Program Goal: Catalysing the Sustainability of the National Protected Area System for Conservation of Globally Significant Wetland Biodiversity

To increase investments and improve the management and climate resilience of high priority forest biodiversity conservation landscapes including protected area systems of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), recognizing the pressures on these landscapes from development and climate change.

To strengthen the management systems for national protected areas conservation and for enforcement of wildlife laws.

To help create the ecological conditions for recovery of threatened biodiversity in priority ecological landscapes in the far northeast of China, using the Amur Tiger as a flagship species.

To strengthen transboundary cooperation for the sustainable management of a network of priority conservation landscapes in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS)

To strengthen the management effectiveness of protected areas to respond to existing and emerging threats to the globally significant biodiversity and essential ecosystem services in the Altai Mountains and Wetland Landscape in Xinjiang UAR

To enable the country to conduct a broad consultation process, including government ministries involved in national GEF policy and programming, to set priorities for GEF resource programming covering the 5th replenishment period.

To strengthen the sub-system of wetland protected areas to respond to existing and emerging threats to their globally significant biodiversity.
