To enhance the capacity of Mali’s agropastoral sectors to cope with climate change (CC), by mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) strategies, practices, and technologies adoption into on-going agopastoral and agricultural development initiatives in the framework of the national Sustainable Land Management (SLM) approach and program (CSI-GDT)

Strengthen biodiversity conservation by (1) increasing the supply of policy relevant, actionable information through preparation of a new NBSAP in line with Viet Nam’s Biodiversity Law and the CBD Strategic Plan 2011-2020; and (2) by building capacity at the provincial level to mainstream biodiversity priorities into land use planning.

Bhutan aceded to the UNCCD in August 2003. As an obligation under the UNCCD, Bhutan prepared its National Action Program (NAP) to combat land degradation in 2009 and was approved by the Cabinet Ministers on 7th April 2011. However, during the process of NAP preparation, alignment obligation with the UNCCD 10 year strategy was not realized. Furthermore, as a party member to the UNCCD, it is obliged to make the national reporting. Bhutan has submitted its report for the 4th National Reproting Cycle (NRC) in November 2010 using PRAIS protal.

1) Rationale:

Strengthen biodiversity conservation by (1) increasing the supply of policy relevant, actionable information through preparation of a new NBSAP in line with Viet Nam’s Biodiversity Law and the CBD Strategic Plan 2011-2020; and (2) by building capacity at the provincial level to mainstream biodiversity priorities into land use planning.

To mainstream biodiversity conservation and sustainable use into production lands in the Greater
Amboseli landscape and improve the sustainability of Protected Area systems.

To facilitate access to GEF funding by 52 countries for Enabling Activities to meet their obligations under the UNCCD a) alignment of NAPs with 10 – Year Strategy and b) Reporting and Review process

To reduce pressure on forest resources by facilitating policy & capacity enabling environment for the uptake of improved practices in agriculture, livestock and forestry management in the community forest areas.

To integrate Yemen’s obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) into its national development and sectoral planning frameworks through a renewed and participative ‘biodiversity planning’ and strategizing process, in a manner that is in line with the global guidance contained in the CBD’s Strategic Plan for 2011-2020.
