Bhutan aceded to the UNCCD in August 2003. As an obligation under the UNCCD, Bhutan prepared its National Action Program (NAP) to combat land degradation in 2009 and was approved by the Cabinet Ministers on 7th April 2011. However, during the process of NAP preparation, alignment obligation with the UNCCD 10 year strategy was not realized. Furthermore, as a party member to the UNCCD, it is obliged to make the national reporting. Bhutan has submitted its report for the 4th National Reproting Cycle (NRC) in November 2010 using PRAIS protal.
