The general objective of this child project is to support the sustainable management of hazardous Chemicals and Wastes (C&W) in the Caribbean. Its specific objectives are: (i) to finance the development and strengthening of policy, legal, regulatory, and financial frameworks, tools, and instruments; and (ii) to channel financing to the private and public sectors to advance the sustainable management of hazardous C&W. A Facility will be created to support private sector companies and public sector entities to move towards a safe chemical development pathway.

To improve the ecological connectivity of two priority landscapes, the Putumayo – Aguarico and the Palora-Pastaza, in the Ecuadorian Amazon, through the establishment of two connectivity corridors and associated management mechanisms, to ensure the long-term biodiversity conservation of its ecosystems.

To assist the Republic of Mauritius in strengthening its national greenhouse gas inventory and associated data collection process, and to mainstream greater use of the inventory in policy formulation and NDC tracking

To prevent the build-up of materials and chemicals in the environment that contain POPS and Mercury and other harmful chemicals in SIDS, and to manage and dispose of existing harmful chemicals and materials in SIDS

To promote integrated land and water management, restoration, and sustainable rice value chains to prevent deforestation in priority landscapes in Tanzania

Promoting sustainable food systems, restoring degraded ecosystems, and reducing deforestation in the Motagua River Watershed (MRW)

To promote sustainable livestock management and conserve ecosystems in the Northern Ukraine landscape.

To trigger wide-scale adoption of efficient land management technologies and promote green value chains to reduce degradation of productive agricultural land and associated high value ecosystems in Northern Kazakhstan Landscape

To coordinate, communicate, and manage knowledge from ISLANDS Programme to amplify the results of ISLANDS child projects throughout each region resulting in the Programme being more than the sum of the parts of the individual projects

To prevent the build-up of POPs and mercury materials and to manage and dispose of existing harmful chemicals and wastes across Pacific SIDS
