The project’s global objective is to achieve GHG reductions through the alleviation of policy, information, institution capacity and financing barriers that currently hinder renewable energy technology dissemination and market development in Nicaragua. The Development Objective is to create a mechanism to focus and heighten the government commitment to extend electrification services in a sustainable manner as an engine for economic growth with social equity.

The main objective of the project is to assist the Government of Albania in improving the management of uncontrolled wastewater discharging into international waters which is threatening the global significant ecosystems along the coastline of Albania. The project will contribute to increase global environmental benefits by: (i) reducing sewage pollution loads generated by urban settlement areas of the three coastal cities Durres, Lezha and Saranda and (ii) promoting and improving the management of the tidal Kune-Vain marshland (near Lezha).

The objectives of the proposed program are to create and foster an efficient multi modal and poverty oriented urban transport system, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and local and air and noise pollution, and to enhance the legal and institutional framework that ensure the sustainability of implemented measures.

The proposed project is one of several projects that will be linked among IAs to address fisheries issues of the two LMEs in the SW Indian Ocean (Somali Current and Agulhus Current). This proposal is from the World Bank with an objective of developing and then implementing a management strategy that links biodi protection of fish species to sustainable use of the fisheries. Distant water fishing fleets are likely depleting the WIO within the 200 mile EEZ of some of the countries. However, the status of the fisheries is virtually unknown.

This DSM operation is associated with the IDA System Efficiency Improvement, Equitization and Renewables Project (SEIER) and part of a long-term power sector strategy for Vietnam. The project consists of two components: (i) a second phase DSM component under Electricty of Vietnam (EVN); and (ii) implementation of a pilot commercial EE program by the Ministry of Industry (MoI) to support emerging Energy Service Industry.

The overall objective of the proposed project is to build capacity in the CARICOM Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to develop Stage II adaptation strategies and measures, according to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the guidance issued at the Conference of Parties.

The goal of this project is the long-term conservation and sustainable management of the Cardamon Mountains ecosystems.

The project will support the incremental costs of a new approach to mobilizing private capital and grant funding to help conserve new and existing marine protected areas (MPAs) at six key sites in the Philippines. It is innovative in the way that a holding company is set up. Essentially, private investors are willing to take lower returns on their investment on ACC in exchange for funding biodiversity conservation.

The project will assist countries in the region to define and establish the Inter-American Biodiversity Information Network (IABIN) an important tool to assist in decision-making related to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and its biological resources. It will develop an internet-based platform to provide access to scientifically credible biodiversity information currently existing in individual institutions and agencies in the American continent.
