The project will develop and implement an integrated approach to the protection of inland wetlands biodiversity of Lithuania . The immediate objective is to ensure biodiversity protection in a reduced number of Strict Nature Reserves (wetlands).

The project will build upon significant investments and proposals by the Malaysian Federal and State authorities to ensure improved marine resource conservation and management in the Malaysian east coast and inclusive sustainable island development. The conservation objective will be addressed thought the improvement of the existing management of marine protected areas at three sites: Pulau Tioman, Pulau Redang, and Pulau Sibu-Tinggi. The project will target approximately 165,000 ha of coastal marine ecosystems under improved management.

The objective of the proposed project is to strengthen conservation of the high biodiversity value forests of the Amur-Sikhote-Alin Ecoregion through the improved forest fire management, reducing frequency, size and intensity of catastrophic fires in the areas of the global conservation importance. The project would develop and implement policies and practices for the integrated management, monitoring and prevention of forest fires within and outside of protected areas.

The development objective of the project is to contribute to the economic development of the Small Island Development States (SIDS) of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) region through (I) the strengthening of existing and the creation of new protected areas; and (b) providing environmentally sustainable economic opportunities for communities living in the surrounding areas.

The project area covers mountain, forest, meadow and steppe ecosystems in the Gegharkunik and Tavoush Districts, including a transboundary wildlife corridor between Armenia and Georgia. The protected areas (PAs) are Sevan National Park (1,500 sq km) and Dilijan State Preserve (290 sq km). Lake Sevan NP has unique alpine lake ecosystem and littoral habitats, while Dilijan NR has a uniqe forest ecosystem containing endangered species in the Southern Caucasus dependent on broad-leaved forests.

Chile’s natural isolation and topographic diversity result in very high levels of species diversity - some 28,450 native species are known - and one of the highest levels of endemism in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Serious government commitment to biodiversity conservation has resulted in an impressive National System of State Wilderness Protected areas, including 31 national parks, 15 national monuments, and 48 national reserves which cover more than 14 million hectares. In addition, 300 private protected areas cover another 1.1 million hectares.

This project promotes solar energy in rural areas implemented by successful and well established Bangladeshi institutions. These include, rural electricity cooperatives, community-based organizations, NGOs, microfinance institutions and the private sector.

The overall development objectives of the proposed MRMP II is the conservation, rehabilitation and sustainable utilization of natural resources in the dryland areas of the NWCZ of Egypt through the implementation of an ecologically , socially and economically sustainable operation of biodiversity for the benefit of the local population. The project will integrate watershed management with community-based and demand driven approaches to socioeconomic development.

The main objective of the project is to secure the ecological integrity of the Jordan Rift Valley, as a globally important ecological corridor and migratory flyway, through a combination of integrated land use planning, ecologically appropriate and nature-based socioeconomic development, and biodiversity protection and management.

The development goal of the project is to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity in six biosphere reserves in West Africa that are predominantly composed of savanna ecosystems. The project purpose is to systematically strengthen scientific and technical capacity for effective management of the biosphere reserves. This targeted intervention strategy has been designed to complement existing investments and projects within the biosphere reserves.
