The objective of the NCSA process is to provide national stakeholders in Burundi the opportunity to articulate a thorough-participatory self assessment and analysis of national capacity building needs, priorities and constraints standing against achievement of global environmental objectives as set forth in the Rio conventions and related international instruments.

The objective of the proposed NAPA project for Samoa is to develop a country-wide programme of immediate and urgent project-based adaptation activities that address the current and anticipated adverse effects of climate change, including extreme events.

The main objective of the NAPA is to identify priority activities and urgent actions needed by a Least Developed Country (LDC) to expand the current coping range and enhance resilience in a way that would promote the capacity to adapt to current climate variability and extremes, and consequently to future climate change.

This project will promote establishment of a regional cooperation mechanism to facilitate the cooperation and coordination of the interventions by the major stakeholders in Northeast Asia (the region) to address the transboundary environmental problem of dust and sandstorm (DSS), thus supplementing and maximizing the effects of the efforts undertaken by the governments of PRC and Mongolia under their respective national action programs to combat desertification under the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

The overall development objective of the proposed IDA-GEF blended Tajikistan Community Watershed Development Project (CWDP) is to help reduce rural poverty and improve livelihoods of rural communities in selected watersheds by supporting productive activities aimed at increasing incomes in a sustainable manner while reducing the pressure on the environment and ensuring the preservation of fragile mountain lands and ecosystems.

The overall objective of the proposed Enabling Activities (EA) is to strengthen national capacity and capability to prepare a National Implementation Plan (NIP) for the management of POPs. This plan will provide a basic and essential level of information to enable policy and strategic decisions to be made and identify priority activities that Turkey should undertake in order to meet the requirements of the Stockholm Convention. It will be endorsed by all stakeholders prior transmission to the Conference of Parties (COP).
