The project would assist the government of Belarus to conserve and sustainable manage biodiversity in the Polesei Region through PA protection, and the integration of biodiversity concerns in activities related to land-use. .The project would improve the quality of key policies for several productive sectors such as agriculture, forestry, flood defense) in parallel to the establishment of PAs at target sites of global importance. It will also assist the government in strengthening cooperation with Ukraine on the establishment of the transborder Pripyat-Sokhid-Prostyr reserve.

The proposal would aim to make development greener across a key area of the coastal zone by creating an enabling environment and change the behavior of economic actors within the landscape so that key mosaic of habitats and species are secured and their needs incorporated into economic development of the region. It will do so through mainstreaming biodiversity principles into government ministries and planning and through working directly through industry, particularly tourism, agriculture, fisheries and the banking sector.

The project will overcome institutional and policy and financial and information barriers, necessary to increase investments flows initially from state innovation funds and commercial banks if interest rates continue dropping; and energy management in state-owned companies.

To contribute to market tarnsformation through mobilization of private financial sector investment in sustainable energy projects in order to reduce GHG emissions, to improve energy security and economic development in the Philippines.

The primary goal of this project is to build capacity in Russian financial institutions through the process of developing and marketing specialized EE finance products targeting appropriate market niches and financing EE projects as a direct result. The Program aims to establish sustainable lending practices in the Russian financial sector which support EE investment.

The objective of the proposed project is to support a large increase in EE investment in Bulgaria through development of a self-sustaining, market-based financing mechanism. The project’s goal is focused on the development and implementation of financially profitable EE investment. GEF financing of some US$10 million will be sought to provide the seed capital for BEEF (US$8.8 million) and to fund the TA component (US$1.2 million). As BEEF seeks to make profit, investment financing and partial credit guarantees would be provided on commercial terms.

This regional intervention aims to support all eligible CEIT in their efforts to achieve compliance with the Copenhagen Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, specifically the agreed control schedule for Methylbromide (MBr). Country level activities to identify and phase out MBr consumption by the Protocol deadlines will be prepared by UNEP and UNDP in partnership with the recipient countries, and in close consultation with the Implementation Committee of the Montreal Protocol Parties.

The Project’s development objective is to accelerate the development and utilization of geothermal resources in the Rift Valley as a pathway to low carbon development in the region. The Program’s global objective is to facilitate reduction of the growth rate of GHG emissions in the region through geothermal energy development to produce electricity.

PDF B Project Description: The full scale project will conserve the montane forest biodiversity and related ecological services of the Venezuelan Tropical Andes. Forming part of the North Andean Bioregion, this area has globally significant biodiversity and is at the highest priority level for conservation. Venezuela is proposing a long-term, three-part programme to secure this conservation.

The development goal of the project is to conserve, sustainably use and manage pollinators. The project has three principal objectives. The project will (1) develop and implement tools, methodologies, strategies and best management practices for pollinator conservation and sustainable use.
