Environmental improvement through the elimination of POPS and other obsolete pesticide stockpiles and capacity building for better life cycle management of pesticides

To expand the PA system of Madagascar by developing a sub-network of managed resource protected areas in represented ecological landscapes, co-managed by local government and communities and integrated into regional development frameworks.

To enhance the coverage and management effectiveness of the protected area system of Montenegro by developing the capacity in protected area institutions to design, plan and manage a more representative system of protected areas

To develop adaptive capacity of subsistence farmers and rural communities to withstand climate change in Agro-ecological Regions I and II in Zambia.

Project Objective: The proposed project is the first ever attempted globally to introduce sustainable integrated management principles in a transboundary karstic freshwater aquifer of the magnitude of the Dinaric Karst System. At the global level the project aims at focusing the attention of the international community on the huge but vulnerable water resources contained in karst aquifers (carbonatic rock formations), which are widespread globally, but poorly understood.
