Project Objective: To promote the sustainable use of Benin’s Sacred Forests as a network of community-managed conservation areas incorporated into the national system of protected areas

The project will provide asssistance to stimulate accelerated conversion of CFC-based, and other energy inefficient chillers to new and more energy efficient technology through the provision of financial incentives and a robust policy framework thereby addressing well-documented techno-economic barriers and overcoming market barriers to improved energy efficiency. National capacity for carbon finance intermediation will be built through the project to enable a permanent transformation of the chiller market.

To increase the capacity of the Ministry of Forests and Nature Conservation (MECNT) and increase collaboration among government institutions, civil society and other stakeholders to manage forests sustainably and equitably for multiple uses in selected pilot areas of DRC.
