To enhance the protection and sustainable management of protected areas.

The Project Development Objective is to improve delivery of government assistance for sustainable agriculture and rural development in a manner consistent with the EU’s pre-accession requirements. The Global Environment Objective is to mainstream sustainable land use and natural resource management into MAFWM’s policies, programs and investments. These efforts will be particularly critical for the north of Montenegro, where there are sensitive mountain ecosystems of global importance, and where poor rural residents are largely dependent on the natural resource base for their livelihoods.

To reduce or eliminate the use and releases of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) to the environment through the development and implementation of a pilot projects for the environmentally sound management (ESM) of PCBs and through the disposal of approximately 1,700 tons of pure PCBs and 6,000 tons of PCB-contaminated equipment, including PCB-contaminated mineral oils and related waste in three pilot states in India.

To enhance adaptive capacities of vulnerable rural populations to the additional risks posed by climate change on agricultural production and food security in Mali.

To demonstrate that participatory management of wildlife can be a viable strategy for conserving forest ecosystem function, integrity and biodiversity in the Congo Basin.

Countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region have the capacity to contribute with national POPs analysis to the reporting under the Global Monitoring of POPs

: To strengthen the capacities of the Congo Basin countries on REDD+ issues and on forest carbon stocks measurements.

To ensure the conservation and sustainable management of representative ecosystems and biodiversity by assisting countries to assess Climate Change (CC) related risks, develop guidelines for adaptation, and build capacity for mainstreaming risk based adaptation in PAs

The objective of the Strategic Program is to strengthen sustainable management of forest ecosystems of the Congo Basin as a contribution to the conservation of the globally relevant biodiversity and ecosystem services, maintaining a solid foundation for the region’s sustainable development.
