The objective of the project is to promote biomass-based municipal heat and hot water services. It will reduce direct GHG emissions by 63,577 tons of CO2 over its 4-year project life and 19,143 tons of CO2 during each year of the remaining 16-year life of the boiler equipment.

The proposed project will establish an environmentally sound management (ESM) system for PCBs, improve compliance to PCBs related obligations under the Stockholm Convention (SC) and promote local use of non-combustion technologies in the disposal of 3,000 tons of PCBs contaminated equipment.

The objectives of this project are (a) through appropriate technology transfer, to phase-out the consumption of 212 ODP tones of CFC-11 and CFC-12 (2010) used in the manufacture of Aerosol Metered-Dose Inhalers (MDIs) in the Russian Federation (RF) and (b) to reduce future GHG emissions by approx. 1.7 MMT CO2 t/equivalent, by introducing, through technology transfer a lower GHG propellant.
