The overall goal of the project is to ensure the long -term conservation and sustainable use of the unique mountain ecosystems in Marsabit by developing and implementing a management plan that could be replicated in similar environments in the Horn of Africa. Objective 1 Develop a Resource Management Plan for Mt Marsabit and its Environs that includes finalisation of the delineation of the boundaries of the protected areas and to clarify the jurisdiction of the main institutional stakeholders and implementation of some priority aspects of that Resource Management plan.

The project will enable Latvia to ratify the Stockholm Convention and become a Party to the same.

The objective of this Enabling Activities (EA) proposal is to build and strengthen national capacities and to enhance knowledge of decision makers, industrialists, NGOs and the general population on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). This will lead to the preparation and endorsement of a National Implementation Plan (NIP) for the Stockholm Convention on (POPs) by all stakeholders in Congo, in order to enable Congo to manage the elimination of POPs and fulfil the Stockholm Convention obligations.
