The primary goal of this project is to identify needs for capacity development in the sectors of biodiversity conservation, climate change and desertification combat, to set priorities, and then determine an approach for addressing the priority needs. This would be done through a country-driven, consultative process.

This NCSA exercise shall produce: - A description of the programmes, projects and strategies now in place to address the issues of biodiversity, climate change and desertification (including lists, maps and hierarchical charts of government departments - “organigrams”); - The identification of the principle existing interrelations and possible joint actions (lists, description of convergent activities) so as to avoid duplication of effort and to reinforce synergies, wherever possible; - A diagnosis of the capacity building requirements needed in the areas addressed by each of the three Conv

The main goal of the project is to identify, through a country-driven consultative process, priorities and needs for capacity building to protect the global environment, taking into account the three global conventions on biodiversity, climate change and desertification/land degradation, and also to explore synergies among and across these areas to direct actions towards achieving the goal of sustainable development.

The overall goal of the NCSA for Panama is to support the National Environment Authority (ANAM) in the identification of gaps and high-priority national needs for environmental matters. The aim of the NCSA is to build capacity at the individual, institutional and systemic levels, creating impact at the local, regional and national level, and to support in a substantive way the implementation of the 3 global conventions UNFCCC, UNCCD and the UNCBD.

The main objective of the NCSA is to assess the national capacities to manage the global environment in Senegal.

The general objective of this project is to identify and determine the critical capacity constraints and capacity building priorities to address global environmental issues in Suriname. The proposed project will also prepare a national strategy and action plan for addressing those constraints.

The objective of the NCSA process is to provide an opportunity for the national stakeholders in Syrian to articulate a thorough and participatory self-assessment and analysis of national capacity building needs, priorities and constraints for global environmental management.
