The project long-term development objective is to enhance the enabling environment and capacity for arresting land degradation and establishing sustainable land management practices, so as to contribute to enhancing ecosystem health, integrity, functions and services while promoting sustainable livelihoods in Bulgaria. As immediate objective the project will build capacity for sustainable land management and development and implementation of a coherent land policy.

The project will: 1. Prepare the ground for implementation of the Convention in the Commonwealth of Dominica; 2. Assist Dominica in meeting its reporting and other obligations under the Convention; and 3. Strengthen Dominica’s national capacity to manage POPs and chemicals generally.

The project will: i. Enable the preparation of the National Implementation Plan with respect to POPs in The Bahamas; ii. Assist The Bahamas in meeting its reporting and other obligations under the Convention; iii. Strengthen The Bahamas’ national capacity to manage POPs specifically and chemicals generally.

The goal of this project is to ensure long-term conservation of the globally important biodiversity of the Ponor Mountains. The objective is to conserve the Ponor Mountains grasslands as a pastoral ecosystem of high biodiversity value by addressing the root-causes of its abandonment and subsequent degradation, and identifying and disseminating lessons learned to similar grassland areas in Bulgaria.

To remove barriers to Integrated Natural Resources Management (INRM) by developing and strengthening institutional knowledge, capacity and coordination and by demonstrating and up-scaling successful sustainable land and water management practices.

1.The main goal of the project is to create sustainable capacity and ownership in Latvia to mitigate land degradation and thereby meet the country’s obligations under the Convention on Combating Desertification. The main objective of the project is capacity building and removal of key barriers to sustainable land management in Latvia.

The project development goal is to achieve ecosystem stability on the exposed Aral seabed and the Kyzylkum Desert, in Uzbekistan. It will achieve this by supporting fully and directly the objective of GEF OP#15 namely, to mitigate the causes and negative impacts of land degradation on the structure and functional integrity of ecosystems through sustainable land management practices as a contribution to improving people’s livelihoods and economic well-being.

The objective of the project is o develop in the Susamyr Valley a cost-effective and replicable pasture management mechanism which reduces the negative effects of livestock grazing on land and which improves rural livelihoods.

This project aims at removing barriers to the adoption of renewable energy technologies (RETs) by promoting productive uses of energy in one of Pakistan remotest areas: the District of Chitral. The project will create new local jobs and sources of income while directly mitigating some 109,000 tons, and indirectly mitigating 390,000 tons, of CO2-equivalent over 25 years.
