The objective of the project is to create the conditions for sugar mills to increase the export of electricity generated by sugar cane trash and bagasse to the grid. This will be achieved by promoting the use of trash (sugarcane tops and leaves) as additional fuel to bagasse in the sugar mills, increasing the capacity of sugar mills to export electricity to the grid by approximately 70% from the baseline scenario.

The development objective of this project is to enhance national capacities and facilitate the process of mainstreaming climate change issues into national development and poverty reduction processes. This will enable Peru to cope with climate change and to address this challenge from an environmental and sustainable development perspective.

The proposed Ethiopia Country Program for Sustainable Land Management (ECPSLM), one of the six GEF Country Pilot Partnerships , seeks to address land degradation through the development of a comprehensive and integrated vision for sustainable land management in Ethiopia. The objective of the proposed program is to conserve and restore landscapes of global and national ecological, economic, and social importance through the adoption of sustainable land management policies, practices, and technologies.

This project aims to ensure that the wide range of agencies and organizations tracking progress in achieving the 2010 CBD indicator targets can collaborate more effectively to deliver the suite of global indicators that will be used for tracking and communicating progress. The aim of the full project is to support regular delivery of a full suite of 2010 indicators at the global level that is meaningful to a range of audiences in supporting both policy intervention and communicating degree of success in achieving the 2010 target.

The goal of the project is to introduce a national integrated and coordinated environmental information management and monitoring system in order to strengthen the environmental information availability and the national environmental reporting capacity of Armenia to fulfil its obligations under the 3 Rio Conventions.
