This project will assist GOI in the implementation of Articles 6 (General Masures for Conservation and Sutainable Use) and 8 (In-Situ Conservation) of the Convention on Biological Diversity through the completion of an updated Indonesian Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP). The first IBSAP was prepared in 1991 and was adopted as part of the GOI 25 years Development Strategy for 1991-2015.

Dry Forest Biodiversity Conservation

The proposed MSP would build on activities supported under the IBRD/GEF OECS Ship Waste project related to the Grenada Dove. The proposed MSP would take a broader approach, with the goal of promoting the conservation of the dry forest ecosystem and component species of special significance in Grenada. Project activities would be based on effective stakeholder participation, and would include: (1) Environmental education, (2) Ecosystem management, (3) Biodiversity conservation research.

Restoration of Round Island

Project BriefScanned Letter of Endorsement
Goal: To restore Round Island as much as possible to its original ecological state, and protect it as an example of a sustainable representative Mascarene Island ecosystem practically free of introduced species. Objective: To increase populations of endemic species on Round Island through habitat improvement, erosion control, selective weeding and reestablishment of populations of plants and animals that have vanished because of human intervention.

Biodiversity Conservation of Lake Bosumtwe Basin

Project Summary
Bosomtwe is one of the six major meteoric lakes in the world and its ecological uniqueness makes it one of the most important habitats for rare and endemic plant and animal species. The main objective and activities as stated in the proposal are in line with the government's policy of conserving and sustainably managing natural resources and land use in Ghana as contained in the Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan which is currently being finalized.
