The objective of the proposed project is to strengthen the resilience of agricultural development in China to climate change by implementing selected adaptation measures at demonstration sites in the 3 H Basin and mainstreaming climate change adaptation into irrigation, water resource management and the wider context of rural development.

The Partnership’s global environment objective is to restore and maintain globally significant ecosystem functions and services through enhanced local capacity, restoration of degraded areas, and dissemination, replication and scaling-up of successful SLEM best practices within and across individual Indian states. Its overall development objective is to contribute to poverty alleviation in India by promoting enhanced efficiency of natural resource use, improved land and ecosystem productivity, and reduced vulnerability to extreme weather events (droughts, floods).

The objective of the project is reducing the risk of exposure and releases of PCBs to the people and the environment by strenthening PCB management systems and phasing-out and re-generating up to 2,000 tons of PCB containing and contaminated equipment in an environmentally friendly way.

: Minimize risks of exposure from PCBs to Mexicans, including vulnerable populations (e.g., school children and workers), and to the environment, while promoting Mexico’s timely compliance with the Stockholm Convention requirements for PCB management, including convention decommissioning, and destruction provisions.

The objectives of this Grant to support the Regional Activities of the Strategic Partnership are to: -Strengthen regional coordination in order to ensure complementarity among country-level and regional projects, in particular in respect to management of trans-boundary resources; -Promote learning and information exchange at the regional level to ensure that the lessons from successes and failures of country and LME level investments are adequately disseminated; and -Encourage direct financial support in the SSA countries for the necessary governance (i.e.

Reduce environmental and health risks associated with the presence and release of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the global as well as local environment through securing POPs stockpiles, environmentally sound destruction of priority POPs stockpiles and improving capacity for the orderly management and elimination of future POPs stockpiles and releases.
