The enabling activity project will help the Executive Secretary for the Environment, relevant government ministries, municipal councils, NGOs, local communities and research institutions to formulate a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP) and country report to the COP. The BSAP will determine the current status of, pressures on, options and priority actions to ensure conservation and sustainable use of the country’s biodiversity.

The Biodiversity Enabling Activity for Senegal will assist the Ministry of the Environment and Nature Protection and the Conseil Supérieur des Ressources Naturelles et de l’Environnement (CONSERE) in developing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP). The BSAP will build on and reinforce other existing national strategies and plans, such as the National Environment Action Plan.

The project will help SEA, relevant government ministries, NGOs, local communities and research institutions to formulate a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP) and the first country report to the COP. The BSAP will determine the current status of, pressures on, options and priority actions to ensure conservation and sustainable use of the country’s biodiversity.

The principal objective of this enabling activity is to assist the Conseil National de l’Environment pour un Développement Durable (CNEDD) and the Government of Niger in preparing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP). The BSAP will define the current status of, pressures on, options for, and priority actions to ensure the conservation, sustainable use, and equitable sharing of its biological diversity. The project will build on the existing knowledge base to elaborate the BSAP through a process of participatory planning and stakeholder consultation.

The principal objective of this enabling activity is to assist Zambia in preparing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP). The BSAP will define the current status of, pressures on, options for, and priority actions to ensure the conservation, sustainable use, and equitable share of its biological diversity. The project will build on the existing knowledge base to elaborate the BSAP through a process of participatory planning and stakeholder consultation.

The Biodiversity Enabling Activity for Mali will assist the Ministry of Rural Development and Environment (MDRE) and the Comité Interministériel du Suivi (CIS) in developing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP). The BSAP will build on and reinforce other existing national strategies and plans, such as the National Environmental Action Plan.

Present project aims to consolidate the pilot phase project JOR/92/G31 - Conservation of Dana and Azraq Protected Areas to address the new threat (unforeseen at the time of project preparation in 1992/1993) and pressures brought about by the Peace Accord in the Dana and Mujib Reserves (as strategic nodes in the Rift Valley ecosystem) and the Azraq Wetland Reserves.

The project will enable the preparation of the country report to the CBD.

The enabling activity project will help formulate a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP) , and enable the country to meets it obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity.

The main objective of this project is the formulation of a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan through a fully participatory process that will include government, private sector, and NGOs.
