The Project development objective (PDO) is to promote the adoption of SLM practices in selected priority areas in the Groundnut Basin. The Global Environmental Objective (GEO) is to reduce land degradation and improve ecosystem functions and services in selected priority areas in the Groundnut Basin.

Goal: To contribute to sustainable land management in order to maintain and improve ecosystem health, stability, integrity, functions and services, and at the same time support sustainable livelihoods in Senegal.
Objective: To demonstrate and replicate innovative, indigenous and sustainable small-scale irrigation practices within a context of integrated land use planning.

Project Objective: To promote SLM and good water governance by addressing institutional constraints to equitable local development, informing legal reform processes in land rights while promoting alliances among stakeholders to rally behind and defend their shared interests. Project interventions will occur at two complementary scales: (i) local in the Toker area of East Sudan/Red Sea State for component 2 and (ii) national/federal level for components 1 and 3.

To reduce land degradation, biodiversity loss and mitigate climate change through the application of sustainable land management practices which will contribute to adaptation to and mitigation of climate change

To create a sustainable enabling environment for shade coffee as an incentive for integrated sustainable land management that reduces land degradation and improves livelihoods in the Kilimanjaro Highlands, Tanzania.

GEO: To enhance the environmental sustainability and resilience of agricultural production to land degradation and climate risks.
PDO: To increase agricultural productivity and commercialization of participating households, by transforming and improving the performance of agricultural technology development and advisory service systems.

To provide land and resource users/managers with the enabling environment (SLM model, tenure arrangements, charcoaling technologies, institutions) for effective adoption of SLM within the complexity of the cattle corridor production system

The project specifically aims to support SSA countries in the planning and implementation of programmatic investments to scale up SLM using an ecosystem approach by capitalizing on NEPAD and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) comparative advantages of driving and strengthening of African processes.

Local grassroots organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa empowered to participate and influence the implementation of the UNCCD, TerrAfrica and other SLM processes, programs

The Project Development Objective and Global Environment Objective are to increase the adoption of sustainable land and water management practices in selected micro-watersheds in the Eastern Nile Sub-basin. A second GEO is to develop a framework for integrated and sustainable management of Lake Nasser/Nubia Sub-basin.
